Stress doesn’t always feel like stress

Stress is often imagined as feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or on the edge. But for many people, stress doesn’t look like that at all.
It shows up quietly.
It might be in the tight shoulders you’ve learned to ignore. The constant mental background noise that never really switches off. The tiredness that sleep doesn’t seem to fix. The sense of always being slightly rushed, even when there’s nowhere to be.
Because these signs build gradually or they feel like they've always been there, they often become normal. We do what we have to do, we adapt, we cope, we carry on, all without realising how much our body and system is holding.
Stress isn’t a personal failure. It’s a physiological response to ongoing demand without enough recovery.
Over time, the nervous system can become stuck in alert mode. The body stays braced. Muscles remain tense. Breathing becomes shallow. Proper rest starts to feel difficult, even when we want it.
This is where stress care or your self care becomes important.
Through reflexology and massage, I help support the nervous system to slow down and settle. Reflexology works deeply with the body’s regulatory systems, while massage helps release physical tension that often builds up unnoticed.
This isn’t about waiting until you’re burnt out. It’s about noticing the quieter signs and responding to yourself with care,
before the body is forced to shout.
